Hi,
attached is excel ss of a test i did on my fridge last year. Ambient
temps not as high as 29, but you get the idea.
I have buggered around a lot with trying to improve the fridge
performance. Here are a few things I have done:
- removed fridge and cleaned all fins
-cleaned combustion chamber and gas jet
- turned the fridge upside down for 24 hours (the idea is to
redistribute coolant - hydrogen/ammonia cylce)
- replaced broken fin fan with computer muffler fan - not a great
idea, Volterra brand fan from gowesty seems a better fix. Computer
fan does not move enough air, fan cycles too much.
-formed a sheet metal shroud around fan and fins to direct air
better, enhance convection etc. I can't say if this has worked any
better than stock.
-small 12 V cpu fan inside fridge to move air around inside. This
does help.
-additional fan mounted to grill that faces the top loading
cupboards. The idea was to move more air out from behind fridge. It
is separately switched and does blow hot air, so I guess it does help.
- tightened up all screws of hinges and latch.
- bright blue led to replace stock dim green one, this is a good mod,
so easy now to see if fridge lit and if burning high or low (led
intensity varies with combustion chamber temp)

Hi all.
Searched archives, but didn't find answers. Sorry for
what are likely repeat questions.
Conditions: 27 C *outside*, parked in shade windows
cracked, cold beer added to pre-cooled refer, little
fridge fan running inside.
At best, refer cools down to 47 F on LP. (have RS
wireless temp sensor in refer) Pretty sure that's too
warm to keep chicken etc. in. Am I correct on that?
And....
What's the lowest listers have gotten refers down to
in comparable (27 C outside) temps? And what upgrade
was the biggest help. (would like to get down to 40
F)Extra rear fan(s)? Replacing thermal paste between
cooling fins and tube?
Thanks much!
