It seems the regular Mobil 15w-50 is being phased out and replaced with
the Extreme performance version. The only 5w-50 I know of is the Castrol
Syntec. While a good oil it is not a true synthetic but one made from
hydro-cracked or whatever petro stocks. I know a number of folks that
use it with know real problems but I stay with the 15w-50. Also, wider
viscosity rang oils are not as stable as they rely more on the additives
to maintain viscosity at higher temps.

I've been having trouble getting 15W50 mobil 1 oil here in the
Great White North.  Has anyone with an oil pressure gauge used
5W50 and compared it to 15W50?  Was there any difference in hot
pressure?  (In principle there shouldn't be... but real life is
a different story!)

I'd do the experiment but at C$30-$40 for the oil it gets
expensive!
