I was just thinking while I was replacing my heater hoses today should I replace all the clamps with stainless screw types or should I keep the factory spring type. The originals seem to be in good shape. Any help will be great.

The simple and short answer is - Use the spring clamps. Of all the things VW screwed up this in not one of them. The spring type clamp is far superior to the screw type clamp as it offers a constant tightening on the hose as it warms up and becomes more supple. The screw type clamp can be the cause of leaking if it has not been tightened properly after the hoses have become hot. Once leaking has started, especially on an aluminum nipple, corrosion will set in then you will have nothing but trouble from then on. And we all know we have enough trouble already !
