My 81 AC Westy likely has a helicoil insert w/plug inside of that. I say "likely" as I haven't looked myself. (yes I know. I should be spanked...) Just going by what PO's reciept indicates.....

Get a qualified VW guy/gal/monkey to deal with drain plug if your scenario is as mine. (allen head plug threaded into helicoil.....if I understand my scenario correctly....)

My VW guy was quite clear about him dealing with the first oil change. What I do beyond that I dunno.....likley he will take all out, tap the block (new larger threads) and install larger drain plug.
