Re: "One thing I have noticed about the folks on this list... we are so willing to take these "antiques" on roadtrips that would scare the bejeebers out of someone owning another vehicle of similar vintage...."

I will second that. When we bought our `87 Westy Syncro it was in Berkeley, CA. We(my wife, myself, and our 8 month old son) flew into Sacramento on a Wednesday afternoon, drove down and picked up the van on Thursday and set off for home 3500 miles away Friday evening. I would think nothing of doing it again and would be fine with going to the gas station right now, fueling up and heading anywhere that we can drive to from here.

Now if my boss would only let me work from the road..... The wife and I have talked about taking off with the kids in a few years for a six or so month tour of the States in our van, just waiting for the little one to get old enough to enjoy it and our store(s) flowing smoothly so I might be able to leave my job.
