Same here. In late April & early May of this year, I spent two weeks on the road from So-Cal to Tennessee for Circle Yer Wagens and even from several "volks" attending the event, they were rather surprised I drove "Ole Putt" to the event with a small trailer in tow ("You drove all the way from Californy?"). Put almost 6000 miles on the rig this trip.

Even more so, 7 years ago I took 8 months off to see the country back east & the midwest with the same rig set-up with similar reactions from both VW and Non-VW "volks". I guess 15 to 20 year old VWs with California license plates just aren't seen very often east of the Rockies. Since I run channel 17 or 19 on the CB when I'm on the road, I got inquiring chatter from a lot of long-haul truckers too. Over 22,000 miles on that trip with hardly a problem to speak of too. Preventive maintenance is the secret. -- Jim Thompson 84 Westfalia 2.1 "Ole Putt" 73 K Ghia Coupe "Denise" 72 411 Station Wagon "Pug" oldvolkshome@gmail.com http://www.oldvolkshome.com ********************************** On 6/26/06, bueses <bueses@earthlink.net> wrote: > > I am still amazed at the reactions of non vw folks when I tell them that > my > wife drove our 84 Westy 2500 miles across country recently, by herself, & > had no problems-you would have thought she had gone to Mars w/o incident. > > Pax, > > Tom
