I pity Benny Boy in Canada...

Whadda 'bout poor 'ol me over here in Almonte ? Think I have no rusty Vanagons showing up - Ha ! I'll match my customers rust buckets against Benny Boys any day ! Just because I don't spend half my day taking pics and posting them to a website does not mean things are any better over here. You shoulda see the '86 that came in here on a tow truck yesterday. Yowza ! Needed an alternator and much more. Put on the alternator to get him home but it's coming back next week for major surgery ! Needs an exhaust system and the bold nut heads on the header ports are about non existent. All the joints have been welded together. It's a real work of art ! Plus leaking oil & coolant from ??????? your guess is as good as mine. And the wiring looks like - well it looks BAD ! Getting my rusty Vanagon working tools & clothes ready ! This whole thread started due to Mr. Gronski wanting to know the average time to pull a syncro tranny ~ engine whatever. These are average 20 year old vehicles we are speaking of. There is no fixed time to do any of the once normal jobs. Some of the vans are in such horrible condition I just refuse to work on them before the bill gets to the point of giving the owner a heart attack in my driveway that I have to deal with ! Getting to be the time to retire to a nice quiet Mexican beach !

Cheers,
