most shops that specialize in it ask around $6000 plus the cost of the engine (6000 at H and R, 6500 at smallcar for example) there was a guy called dave that people discussed about on the subaruvanagon list who does it for 3000 plus cost of engine, with a traditional kep install (which is fine, but has been advanced in recent years)

DIY price estimates around 3000 total, if you buy a subaru donor car and part it out and sell the wbx you might get it down to $2000.......maybe, that is.

i have signed up to all conversion lists and listened to them for months and i thing subaru is for me the way to go as its most economical. diesel swaps are very expensive, tiico..... well .....listen to the tiico list yourself and decide if you want to have that engine.... , zetec from www.bostigeng.com is sure good as well. you pay 7800 for the plug and play kit. apparently you can install that in a day or two, hence maybe an option for you as an alternative to a professional subaru install. if you do subaru yourself, it seems to be 1-2 weeks, less if you get the harness made by someone ($700 extra).

me personally, i will go for the DIY subaru swap.
