No, what Larry did is have an additional front add-on unit comprising a small airbox and an evaporator in addition to the existing heater box. It provided some benefit in that it cooled the front- but only by recirculating air.

If one actually had an evaporator in or ahead of the factory heater box you would have a/c in front like a regular modern car, able to dehumidify and/or cool fresh air, and direct that air to the windshield and passenger compartment through the regular vent network.
