I've always had issues during the summer and sitting in traffic watching the engine temp needle climb. My temp needle usually resides one needle thickness below the bottom edge of the lo coolant LED and starts climbing soon after stopping and continued until A) I started moving B) I pulled over and waited to start moving. I was getting some air in the system and a quick bleeding at the rad would get it flowing again. Re-torqued the heads and the air has been virtually eliminated, but it still climbs after stopping. I just installed a switch to manually turn on the fan from the dash and my first test was a success. Warmed up the '85 and waited for the needle to rise above the LED. Switched on the fan and in under 2 minutes the needle was back home at its norm. Oh yea, I wired it to come on at high speed. My question is... Will I burn out the fan using it this way ? Will I damage any components on the fan circuit ? Will I make it through Manhatten tomorrow with the family ? Any thoughts ? TIA Dave '78 Westy '85 Westy '93 EVMV 5sp. |
