Hi all Well the Vanagon Clunk that i thought i fixed with the Fuel tank was driven today and in the 1st turn it clunked again. so i had someone ride along and they said it was coming from the front when i thought it was coming from the rear so. we got out on a dead end road and rocked the bus violently till we heard the clunk. at 1st we thought it was something in the spare tire area. Then i we were watching the front suspension go up and down as we rocked the hell out of the westi. found that the link between the sway bar and the lower control arm was snaped off where the top washer goes on. I always though it didnt handle as well do to it being top heavy not a broken link. so i went though the motions and removed the pc only to find out it was made only for the late 84 to early 85s so as usual it was what i needed. well the dealer could get them for about 120.00 so i talked to the local heavy welding guy and he will do it for 20.00 and i can wait for it. So If I dont weld it myself i will take it to him and let him do his thing. But since ive got the welder myself im just not as much of a Pro as he is. But i can make metal stick together without to much of an issue so tonight if i dont screw it up i will fix and install and just be done. Got to love older vws. Alsways something. c-ya Jonce Jonce Fancher 56 Single Cab 66 Sunroof Bug 66 Variant Squareback 66 Porsche 912 71 Sunroof Bus 84 Vanagon "Gottfried" 85 Vanagon Westi 2003 10 Passenger Sprinter Fancher's Upholstery Inc. - www.fanchers.com Not-A-VW Club- http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jaransont3/notavwclub/ |
