Mark Yes they came to Australia as a Windowed Van. The side panels were fitted with a single piece of glass. I removed mine and replaced with sliders. I still have the one piece glass for the middle and rear panels. The Glass is genuine VW and carries the logo at the bottom of the panes. Can't help you with the frame you refer to. There was no frame fitted to the fixed glass. Mine were fitted into the cut-out panels with just the rubber seal. This kept them in place very effectively. When I retro fitted the sliding windows I used the rubber seal from the original fixed panes to secure the new sliders. This means that the window size is approximately the same dimensions as the aluminium frame around the sliders. My Van is a late 1991 manufacture. Hope this answers your question. Were there any vanagons made with a solid one piece window for the side (middle) - - - mine of course has a slider window . . . and all the pics I've seen do too .. . . can't remember if any were made with non-sliding glass - - - would really like this frame so I can put in non-opening glass . . . thanks |
