Hi, back from a long weekend at Nitinat River on West Coast Van. Isle. Weather nice a sunny, although as usual it takes till about 10:30-11:00 am for the marine cloud to be blown off, then the nice strong winds come up which pleases the windsurfers on Nitinat lake. Lots of Elk tracks, but no sightings unless you call finding an antler a sighting. Bear poop but no bear sightings either. Fishing on river done half hearted and corresponding success. Didn't get stuck this time and the "bridging ramp" I made in a rush before leaving was not needed, washed out culvert "repaired" by others with planks. The fridge worked very well. the one temp reading I took showed a 27C cabin temp and a 2.7C fridge temp. That's 81/37 F. The fridge side of van was always in shade, and the external fin fan never came on once. Van scratched up more now from narrow trails and brush rubbing on sides, but its a good damage, not the same as scraping the van in a parking lot :) Alistair '82 westy, diesel converted to gas in '94 http://www.members.shaw.ca/albell/ |
