SimonP recently scored some used (plastic) wheelcovers, which arrived complete with black brake-dust congealed with some goo-ey stuff. In an attempt to clean them, we went to our local FLAPS, and they were very accommodating to our request. They took turns trying their various cleaning products on the wheelcover that we brought to them.

The only one that even touched the mess was "Eagle One All Wheel & Tire Cleaner". Still, it took ages (= 2 hours or so) to clean them.
