The pipes have the same OD as the originals and can replace them without any modification whatsoever. However, being of a 2-piece design the installation is much easier. You can easily feed them through on each end and then connect at the midldle.

As for fitment, I have had these for the 83-84 1.9L engines for quite some time, from the same manufacturer, and never had a single fitment complaint, quality, or anything else. So this is not a new product for me; it is only new that we now have them for the 2.1's. The person who recently reported that the bend was slightly off was the only one to report such an experience so far, out of many sold. So based on that, and the track record of the German manufacturer's other pipes, I have to assume at this point that it was an isolated incident.
