Subject: Fuel Pumps and Filters

OK - I'll try to make this short but make sense as well.

Background I have an 85' GL that has rusted through its coolant pipes and once fixed decide that the radiator was going to spew coolant as well. There are a laundry list of other issues too. So I purchased an 86' that has some minor collision damage and decide to make mesh the two buses together.

Problem The 86' will run it just needs a fuel pump. Great I'll use the one from the 85'. The problem is that the person I purchased the 86' from had already removed the bad fuel pump and filter - so when I removed the pump from the 85' and went to place it on the 86' nothing looked the same. Being a major neophyte I don't know what to do. The 85' had a short fuel line from the tank to the square plastic filter - from the filter to the pump and then another fuel line running to the engine. The 86' has the fuel line running from the tank, no filter, and two small plastic lines coming from the engine area - and another small plastic line that comes from the front of the vehicle. My problem is I don't know what is what. Unfortunately looking at the Factory repair manual hasn't helped me much either.

So now that you all think I'm really dumb (I can take it) - any advice to point me in the right direction would be great. I miss a running bus! -- Thanks,

Jeff
