I'm taking my '90 westy to Burning Man this year where extreme
temperatures and high winds are common. Insulating the poptop tent is
very desirable under these conditions, since the temperatures inside
the poptop tend to be extreme under normal conditions. Ideally, I
would insulate it on the outside with reflective insulation to
deflect sunlight. One big issue with that is the high winds. How can
you secure anything to the tent without sewing or gluing it on to
withstand 70mph winds? I want to avoid making any alterations to the
tent.

Solution? High powered neodymium magnets. Cut the insulation into 3
panels, one for each side of the tent. Sew or glue one set of magnets
onto the corners of the insulation pieces. Position the insulation,
then attach corresponding magnets on the inside of the tent, securing
the insulation in place. No tent alteration necessary.
