When I first got my 88 GL in '98, the AC was terrific. It was freshly
charged with R12, and while a subjective observation, the air from the
vents felt like it would freeze a halibut. Over time it has finally
given up and I'm getting to overhaul the whole she-bang. But based on my
experience at the time, I plan to go back with R12 if I can get it or
perhaps Freeze12 or Red Tek. I won't go the R134a route at all.
