There is only one aftermarket supplier of gas tanks. They have been making them for years and price them reasonably. We sell a lot of them and rarely have a complaint. The gauge is not quite as thick as original but is close (better than a used tank that already has rust flaking inside and is on its way to clogging your fuel pump). The baffling is not quite as good as on the original, so you can experience fuel starvation if you run extremely low on gas and take a corner very quickly. On a Porsche, this would be a major issue. On a Vanagon, not so much; if you try to corner your barn-on-wheels like it's a Porsche, the gas tank willl be the least of your worries (and even then, only if you are nearly out of gas anyway). Bottom line is, while it's not quite up to new German standards, its real competition is a used tank, and from that perspective I'd say it's better than 90% of the used tanks out there.
