It means your vehicle has reached the end of it's useful life and you must pay me to haul it away, especially if it's in good shape otherwise.... OR, it means you have driven the number of miles it takes to turn the little counter box that the speedometer cable passes through enough times that the light comes on. Cure: There is a little (well hidden) button to press on the box that will reset the light. Theoretically you are supposed to replace the O2 sensor at this point also. But the mileage to replace the O2 sensor was increased to 90k miles in later models and the OXS light removed, that appears to be a more accurate estimate of the life of an O2 sensor.
