My $7000 dollars worth... don't cut corners! I just had $7000 with of body repair and paint done to my Syncro Westfalia. My wife and I remove the entire interior before it went to the paint shop as Vanagons rust from the inside to the outside. Takes about 3 to 4h to remove the interior but you will be very happy that you did this as you can now get at all the rust on the inside.

See http://www.hasenwerk.ca/syncrortdi for the details of my project. Hopefully this evening I will get the lastest photos done showing the interior and exterior painting, insulation and the like.

My 84 Westy is finally in the shop for a "body uplift" and the fellow doing the work expressed genuine fear about doing the needed welding to repair and replace the body parts adjacent to the stove/refridge and wiring that exists behind the cabinetry.

He had wondered about removing the cabinetry while he does the work, but that seems like a daunting and possibly unnecessary task.

Help? Ideas?

Tks SamC
