I'm sure replacement is a good idea but, I haven't gotten around to it
as the cable screws onto the black box and is very secure in the sleeve
that goes through the backing plate.  The cable end sticks out through
the square hole the proper amount and doesn't move in and out so it has
become a "Deferred" maintenance item ... LOL

The speedometer/odometer work fine and any problem with the cable would
be noticed immediately.
