Just for clarification ... the older Vanagons with dealer or port of entry installed airconditioning don't have the low pressure cut-out switches unless they were added later. Neither my '84 7 passenger nor my '85 Westy have low pressure cut-out switches. That means that my compressors will run even when there is NO refrigerant charge, which is a bad thing, so I have to be mindful and careful of such a situation.
