Sounds like the common problem of not enough current to activate the solenoid. Try a jumper at the solenoid from the large terminal with the cable from the battery to the push on terminal where the wire from the ign connects. If this activates the starter, your problem may be solved by using the "hard start" or "hot start" relay. Check the archives.
