The worst that can happen is you blow the fuse. It shouldn't be running within a half amp of fused csapacity anyway, so a blown fuse would actually be an early warning of trouble. 7.5A should be fine. 5A would be pushing it, but again, the worst that'd happen is the fuse blows and you replace it. It's always OK to use a lower rating fuse, and pretty much never OK to use higher*. *unless you're 16 years old and can't figure out why your 280Z keeps burning its fusible links, then it's ok to replace them with a bent paperclip and eventually melt part of your alternator.
