Well we made it with out much of an issue there and back. The vanagon only had 200 miles on it from the engine rebuild. The problems we did have was.

1) Vacuum line plastic reducer craked. fixed with ultra blue seal and duct tape and held for the complete trip.

2) front suspension link that i Welded/fixed before we left since it had broke. Broke and lost all items on I-90 in bumpy construction area. just moved the link over and ignored the clunk when it happened. now i need to fix the right way and get it back into service.

3) Idle hesitation bogging when at idle only ran great otherwise

4) used a total of 1.75 Quarts of oil in 3200 miles. small oil leak from oil pump plate and oil leak from flywheel side were minimal and intermittant. a coolant leak from water pump seal hole was hit or miss also but never needed to add coolant. the oil consumption seemed a bit much but there were alot of hills and bogging up hills. Revs and idle problem was i think a factor in usage also it being a new rebuild with the oil rings not seated or broken in.

5) Trusty air conditioner that worked through everything till apparently needed. so windows is all we had

6) while parking i caught the rear bumper cap on a cable handrail that was hanging low and ripped it clean off. not a biggie.

Beyond that everything was fairly smooth sailing. I will post the suspension needs as soon as i get the picture of it. thanks Jonce
