Boy have you opened a can of worms, high frequency ones, low frequency ones and the rest too.

This subject is the subject of many debates and even some hard research, much of it bound up in psychoacoustics. Dr. Floyd O'toole late of the Canadian sound research project set up by the Canuck government did a bunch, as well as many others over quite a few years.

Still way more questions than answers.
