I had the same thing-- a trickle of black tarry/resiny goop-- with brand-new fuel line in brand-new sleeve material. The sleeves are just some sort of abrasion protective plastic, so it didn't come from that. The fuel line outer jacket was fairly sticky right out of the box though, so maybe it's the source? Perhaps residual solvent from the manufacturing process in the outer jacket, cured out in the hot engine compartment? At any rate, it only happened on the one fuel line from the bleeder tee to the starboard fuel rail. I took the line off examined it thoroughly, put a new gray sleeve over it, and reinstalled it. Not a drop since-- and I've been keeping a close eye on it. Maybe it was a miniscule leak at one end or the other, but I think it unlikely. The fuel line arcs in a gentle inverted U between the two endpoints and the goop was inside the sleeve, "uphill" from both ends. If it was a leak in the line, it's apparently fixed itself. Very mysterious. I'd love to hear if others have had this show up.
