As I recall from the Bentley (currently not at my tableside), the AC wiring is there, but sometimes you'll find it under another year's wiring diagrams. Check the 86 or 89 wiring diagrams.

The compressor might not kick in due to too high or too low pressure. I would check the refrigerant pressure as the first stage of analysis.
