I have no spark coming from the coil, "when someone tries to start the
motor and I hold the end of the plug near a ground"

I had just replaced the relay for the hot start relay by the starter the
day before, but I had been driving all morning and started/stopped about
6-7 times already today.

Got back, checked the dwell/timing.

When I checked the timing, I connected the POS for my timing light to
the POS side of the coil, and from looking through the Beltley it sounds
like that could be bad for my double relay (or for a CA model anyway,
mine is a Federal)

Nothing happened right then and there, and I have used this method in
the past. I adjusted the points, put it back together and it wouldnt fire.

After making sure I had a full battery/charge, I checked for spark and
thats when I noticed nada.

I just purchased a new coil and swapped that in, but the same exact
thing is happening. When someone tries to start it, and I hold the other
end of the plug wire near a ground, I get nothing.

When the key is in the ignition and I connect my test light to the coil,
I do get a reading on both sides no problem.



What else can I check for why I wouldn't be getting any spark at the
coil, even though the coil itself has power and when I try to hit the
ignition it does turn the starter/motor?



Did I mess something up when I connected the POS of my timing light to
the POS of the coil, that it would cause problems elsewhere?


Thanks for any tips, im just, *exhausted*.

After dropping so much $$ into getting it all rebuilt, all I wanted to
do was drive this weekend. If I can get it running at all this weekend,
at this point, ill be excited.
