Subject: Bumper repairs, fibreglass
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Reading about bumper repairs prompts me to share my repair experience working on the rear fibreglass bumper of the van I now have owned for over two years. Photos are posted here: http://community.webshots.com/myphotos?action=viewAllPhotos&albumID=158855270&security=KpGfng Sorry for that horrendous URL. The PO did a rather good repair using black ducttape. I inquired about a new fibreglass bumper replacement and was informed they are $800. or more. This was my first attempt at fibreglass work, I thought it turned out rather well, and as a bonus you can get pretty high breathing the fumes. I used flat black bumper paint in a spray can to complete the job. By the way, one of the nuts that are welded to the inside of the bumper brackets had come loose. I Bremmelled off the bolt and then BJ welded a new nut in place.
