I purchaced the Go Westy luggage rack stainless steel screw set a year ago. The screws were supposed to fit the top luggage rack, and rear hinge. The heads, though large, where much smaller than the OEM screws. I called them about it. They said that they used them fine. Well, I installed them, and the first one cracked the fiberglass. The head on the rusty OEM screw spreads the clamping force over a larger area. The new GW stainless steel screw concentrated this force in too small an area. This, with only light pressure from the screw. Needless to say, I was pissed. I see a market for correct westy screws, and infact all the exterior screws on the Vanagon. I am attempting to gather the correct stainless steel screws for the westy pop top. Lots of rust up there ,too. Thanks again,Roger |
