Malcolm, I just picked up a product from DAP called "Silicone-Be-Gone" at Home Depot that according to the label: "softens old silicone and won't harm most other surfaces or finishes. Indeed the back of the packahge says "Ideal for use on fiberglass". I have not tried it yet, but I bought it to get rid of some silicone that accidentally transfered from my coveralls to the nose of my van when I was installing my adventurewagen top.
