Folks: Anyone ever had their electric fuel pump spew gas out the joint between the bakelite plastic body and the crimped aluminum housing? No question that I'm needing a new pump, but any idea as to what causes/caused this? It's a remanufactured pump I was "forced" to buy on the road ini Nebraska a couple years ago. 1. The engine runs okay so it's getting adequate fuel pressure according to my gauge(22-30 PSI). 2. Only getting 15mpg(duhh!! gas is dribbling/spewing out the back of the pump!) 3. Don't think a clogged fuel filter would cause this much back pressure. 4. Any chance the return line has a restriction in it? We'll go shopping for a junkyard pump up here in theNorhtwoods of WI here shortly. A new Pierburg my be out of the question til we get home. Thanks DM&FS |
