So finally I got a good weather morning and time with help watching the kids, and got under and into my '80 Westy. Got the oil screen pan sealed up sharp (using a torque wrench this time, so i didn't go over 9lbs), filled her up with fresh synthetic blend 20/50, and then worked on the connector for the AFC control unit. Was able to work the loose connector pin forward and gently crimp it in to place with a hemostat. It's a tad Mickey Mouse, perhaps, but better than replacing the whole dang cable set, and the tip from Justin about the way it sort of rocks into place got me running smooth and slick today.

I know it's probably silly to be excited over a stupid little repair like this, but I am, and I am really glad to have Blue on the road again. We may yet at least get an over night trip before summer officially ends.

Best to all on the list, David.
