The early type of coolant level sensor relay pegged the needle and flashed the led whenever it thought the coolant level was low. During the 85 model year the relay was changed and the new type only flashes the led and does NOT peg the needle.

Any version of the relay will fit any year.

The newest type is the best, IMHO.
