Sanden is probably favored because that's pretty much all you'll find
fitted. SOme of the aftermarket kits might have used other types, but
factory AC is all Sanden. A '91 should be a Sanden SD-709. Pre-86's seem to
have used the SD-510 (maybe even the 508 for really early models?)
