Propane has a much higher risk factor than gasoline due to it being a vapor at ambient temps and its extremely wide flammability range. That is why propane is restricted on almost all tunnels and some bridges.

Yes, there's theoretically a risk of that happening, but there's an even greater risk inherent in pumping highly pressurized gasolene into that same environment. Additionally, many of the campervans are toting around several gallons of propane, which has it's own set of risks. Risk risk, everywhere risk. YMMV
