Indeed, if one had a manual tranny and was using the magnets it would be *vital* to disengage the CC before depressing the clutch... otherwise the magnets would detect a slight decrease in axle speed and increase throttle -- then detect no increase in axle and increase throttle more, etc -- quickly over-revving the engine.

That is the major disadvantage of the magnets with a manual tranny. In practice not much of a problem as one is seldom downshifting in an environment where CC might be used. When say approaching a stop, simply braking before de-clutching (the normal thing to do) disengages the CC.
