I have been able to remove all windows except the windshield with a Snap On window rubber removal tool without cutting or breaking anything. The tool seems simple, but was about $100 off the truck. Seemed worth it to me after seeing what new rubbers cost.

Cary Chiang <ccc1@VOLNY.CZ> wrote: A few years ago, there was a discussion on removing the rear 3/4 windows (without cutting the seals), by laying on the rear seat, and using both feet to kick out the window. I successfully did this to one window today, after loosening the seal around the window with a spatula. After many kicks, and using a large piece of plywood to protect my sandaled feet, one corner came out enough for me to work the rest of the window out of the frame. (maybe I didn't kick hard enough?) To those listees who have first hand experience with this technique, I have a few questions-

1. What percentage of kicked windows were successfully removed in one piece, versus shattered? Is the success rate high enough to consider this a valid removal procedure, or more of a joke?

2. Has anyone tried this technique on the sliding side windows (either the 50/50 or Westy type), or the large rear hatch window? If so, what was the success rate?

I'm guessing the sliding windows will not distribute the kicking force evenly across the overlapping glass & frame, without breakage. And I believe the rear window glass is more fragile than the 3/4 side ones. I realize that if I suffer a broken window from a rock or whatever, it will leave an intact seal for the replacement glass. I just hate to destroy a seal! Thanks in advance for your responses.
