Vanagon  clutch housing rebuil
First step is removing the clutch operating arm,slave cylinder mount, drivers side bearing,clutch operating shaft and passengers side bearing. While youare at it,the input shaft seal needs attention too.

Begin by removeing the snap ring on the clutch operation shaft(cos). Next,remove the cos arm. Do this by wedging a screw deiver esgewise betweenthe arm and aluminum  case. Hit with a hamnmer. If it is going to  come out, evidence of this will be seen rather soon. Of three arms i have removed, two came off rather easily.  the third took dynamite(almost). I had to saw the cos in half where it leaves the housing.Next ,go inside the housing and backoff the snap ring.You are now cleared to remove the  desired contents. Use the throw out bearing, holder arm ,on the cos to pound on the plastic drivers side bearing sleave. At some point,the plastic sleave can be pulled out with plyers. The cos will now come out.
