Electrically they are the same. "BUT" ... the ignition wires, the coil and the distributor caps are different for the early vs the late.

So ... if you use an "Early" coil then you must use the early style wires and, of course the early distributor cap as the connectors are what is different.

I upgraded my '84 (early) to the late '84/'85 so that it uses the same parts as my '85 which makes keeping spares easier.
