When I bought my '85 the gas gauge didn't register at all. I needed new seals at the top of the tank so when I ordered them I got a new sender for the tank.

Now the gauge works ... sort of. When I fill up the gauge shows full or sometimes very nearly full. After about 10 miles it registers 3/4 tank and continues to fall faster toward 1/2 tank than I think it should then slows to where it hits the red mark after I've used about 11 US gallons.

I haven't looked into it further.
