Subject: Poptop Canvas Install...help!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

Installing a 3-window canvas in an 84 Westy -- it's the version from the BusDepot (apparently originating from JustKampers in the UK).

http://busdepot.com/details.jsp?partnumber=253070704

BTW, it doesn't particularly look like that picture... a looser fit & the wondows are smaller. Here's the problem I'm having:

With the top edge attached (aluminum rails) I am left with way more material than needed to reach the bottom rails. I'm not talking about pucker or a bit of slack -- more like this thing hangs 2" too long. If I attach the bottom rails as is I'll have a *very* baggy canvas.

At this point I may have to take up some of this slack by folding the bottom edge sort of accordian style to get a reasonably taut cloth.

The questions --

Can someone who has installed the BD canvas comment on whether they encountered this?

Any chance an 84 poptop is a different configuration than later years when the 3-window was introduced? (seems unlikely)

Do these things shrink? (I think they may shrink a bit but no way enough to tighten up that extra 2")

Thanks for any advice or ideas.

Geo Hahn
