Subject: Reminder - Sliding door stop
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

I was musing over past events and recalled that I had a sliding door stop issue a few years back ..... it was a minor thing.... but could have become a big thing. Just wanted to bring everyones attention to this little goody so they can check their door.

When the sliding door closes, the sliding mechanism in the track on the van makes a sudden, abrupt 90 degree change in direction just as it reaches the forward door post. Right at that point there is a little slot cut out of the metal of the post that accepts a small urethane bumper stop to prevent the door mechanism from slamming in to metal as it makes the turn. This stop wears out, falls out, something happens to it....... and the door slams metal to metal. Not a good thing. In time it will damage the door.

The bumper was still available when last I looked, as I had to buy one. I got mine from Camelback VW in Phoenix, AZ.

Check yours. Save some grief.

Regards,

John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
