Fuse Blocks on VWs are always read from left to right when looking at the fuses. Thus #1 starts at the left, closest to the front door. Fuse 1 - 8 amp -Taillight Left, Frt Parking Light, Left, Rear Sidemarker Light Left Fuse 2 - 8 Amp - Taillight Right, Frt Parking Light Right, Rear Sidemarker Light Right, License Lights Fuse 3 - 8 Amp - Low Beam Left Fuse 4 - 8 Amp - Low Beam Right Fuse 5 - 8 Amp - High Beam Left & Dash Indicator Light Fuse 6 - 8 Amp - High Beam Right Fuse 7 - 16 Amp - Radiator Fan Fuse 8 - 8 Amp - Interior Lights, Cig Lighter, Stop Lights Fuse 9 - 16 Amp - Hazard Lights, Radio Fuse 10 - 16 Amp - Wiper/Washer, Heat/Ventilation Fan Blower Fuse 11 - 8 Amp - Turn Signals Fuse 12 - Horn, Backup (Reverse) Lights Additional Fuses (if equipped) - In separate fuseholders located at the right side of the main fuse block (from left to right): Fuse 1 - 8 Amp - Rear Window Defroster Fuse 2 - 8 Amp - Rear Window Wiper/Washer Fuse 3 - 16 Amp - Auxilary (Eberspacher) Heater Fuse 4 - 8 Amp - Overheating Switch for Aux Heater The Air Conditioning Fuse Holders are located just to the left of the Steering Column (there are two) that have a 20 and a 25 amp fuse (Manual doesn't say which are which (I removed mine a long time ago because the AC was worthless and not worth the effort to repair). 8 amp fuses are white, 16 amp fuses are red. If using the original ceramic fuses, use ones that are brass not aluminum.
