I have a stainless muffler and HPC ceramic-coated pipes. They looked great when new but if you don't keep them clean they get coated with baked on dirt and lose their nice shiny steel appearance. The stainless muffler gets surface rust which can be scrubbed off with a stainless steel cleaning powder. I'm not one to get down and scrub my exhaust pipes and muffler though so my exhaust looks like the exhaust on any other old Vanagon. But I suppose I won't need to replace any exhaust components any time soon.
