Hey all, In the past , the VW's I owned went thru speedometer cables often. My Vnagon is still on the original. Now my 82 Vanagon speedo is acting strange. It's slowing down, and now the most it will register is about 35 mph. Has this happened to anyone? Instead of going completely out, it's gradually slowing down. The other thing this is affecting is my engine performance, as the computer needs the VSS signal (Motronic fuel injection) as my engine is a 2.0 Golf. I have a pick-up sensor installed in the back of the speedo that sends the signal to the computer. I am just asking before I remove the cable , if it might be in the speedo itself, or if the cable has broken and is slipping. What's making this seem strange is that usually when a cable breaks, there is no speedo at all or the needle jumps. Thanks for your input- Robert 1982 Westfalia __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com |
