Subject: Front shock installation
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

Hi all.

Am in middle of installing all new Bilstein HD shocks on Westy.

Re: fronts

As it is now, the top nut turns, then it grabs (nut has nylon insert) and turns shaft, leaving no thread exposed at top to hold with pliers with.

Is it UNwise to cut a slot at top of threads so I can hold a straight blade bit (or short equivilant) in slot while turning nut?

Could I use a normal nut with lock washer instead?

Any tips on how to keep shaft from turning while tightening top nut is appreciated!

Going outside to remove shock.....

TIA,

Neil.
