Auto stop valve has a reputaton worse than it deserves. After 20 years ,why not disassemble it and clean it out. Has 2 parts inside. Not difficult todo. In using it,open it fully before fueling ,and problems will go mostly away.Easier to trash it verbally and figuratively.
